Passion drives us to persevere for our cause. So don’t throw in the towel yet. Here are four easy ways to build and keep a donor base that will fuel your passion for years to come.

1. Put Together a Killer Pitch

Before going out and asking people for money make sure you know what you are going to say. If you come off unprofessional people won’t take you seriously and they definitely won’t give you their hard-earned dollars. Take the time to put together and awesome awe-inspiring proposal. Make sure you capture all of your passion in a concise, fluid presentation that will pull the heart-strings but also show that your plans are practical and feasible.

2. Who Do You Know

Once you have an immaculate pitch start by setting up meetings with friends and family. Even though they may not believe in your cause, they might believe in you and are much more likely to donate than strangers. After each meeting ask them if they know of anyone that might be interested in donating. If they do, see if they would be willing to introduce you to them. Keep doing this until your calendar is full of meetings with potential donors. Make sure you don’t burn bridges with people who say no. You never know if they will change their mind later or introduce you to somebody with like passions and deep pockets.

One of the best things you can do for your non-profit is to put regular updates on your Facebook page. Not only does it keep donors up to date, it also serves as a medium to recruit more potential donors. Make sure to take lots of pictures and videos of your operation as they have a tendency to get the most engagement. If you notice a particular post gets a lot of attention consider advertising the post through Facebook ads. You can put together highly targeted ads for relatively cheap. It will create brand awareness, increase donations, and allow the public to see that you are a legitimate organization.
